The Policetorch website is an electronic version of the Policetorch, the first magazine in police literature. From a progressive point of view, it is the vision of the Policetorch.
In 1965, the National Police Agency combined the Civil Coverage and the Police and Public semimonthly into one magazine called Policetorch. To this day, more than 500 issues have been published in 35 years. Although the age and published issues are impressive, the implication of modern media competition is pregnant with meaning.
For a monthly publication whose survival depends on earnings of less than 100 NT dollars per copy, there are some limitations on its operations. Shortage of manpower is one of the difficulties that the Policetorch has to face especially after the government has already decided to simplify the organization. However, human effort is the decisive factor. We have not only kept the Policetorch running, but also developed a new blueprint and vision for our survival in the e-generation.
In January 1999, Chen Shih-Ting, president of the Policetorch, published an article with the title “Development of the Internet, originality and civilization – new ideas of police administration”. The article aroused a great response from readers, policemen and superiors, and hastened the birth of the Policetorch website. At that time, the “originality and civilization” were disseminated via the Internet and the electronic Policetorch of the e-generation began to spread…
The appearance of the Policetorch website is as simple as the Policetorch magazine and we do not write articles to fawn on superiors because what we care about is culture and history. In this electronic Policetorch, we provide the history of the police, give opportunities for exchanging police literary works and faithfully reflect the current police culture.
That is to say, we hope we can witness and record the history of the public security that the police creates effort from the viewpoint of social civilization. |
